My name is Lawi Mawira, and I am a believer in the Lordship of Jesus. I am a former student at the University of Eldoret, where I pursued a B.Ed. Special Needs in English and Literature. I joined the iServe Africa Graduate Apprenticeship Program in September 2023.

I was placed at Ripples International in Meru, a child rescue organization that also runs alongside a school, Nahal Academy. At my placement, I am serving as a teacher and supporting learners with special needs. I teach PP1, Special Unit, Grades 7 and 8. We also conduct staff devotions every morning through the book of Luke and home fellowships every Thursday, where we are handling the book of Jonah and the book of Romans. This is my fifth month of serving at my placement, and it has been a period of learning how to incorporate gospel ministry in a work setting.

Through the ministry training course that is facilitated by iServe Africa, the gospel has continually become clearer to me. I get to behold the saving grace more and more, and it gets clearer to me that the problem of man is sin, and his biggest need is the forgiveness of sin. This has shaped my preaching to only limit myself to the gospel in any opportunity I find to minister, that I must point people only to Jesus.
