Greetings,

I am David Mutua, a former student of Pwani University, where I pursued a Bachelor of Education in Arts, specializing in Kiswahili and History. I am saved by God’s grace, and my love for the Lord is profound. Currently, I am an apprentice with iServe Africa, and I am grateful for how far the Lord has brought me on this journey.

I want to express my gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity to serve at Ebenezer Christian School in Migori County, Rongo Sub County. In my role, I teach Kiswahili, Social Studies, and Creative Arts to students in grades 7 and 8.

The school is under the Brethren Assembly Church of Kenya. Within the church, my engagement revolves around the youth. I conduct youth Bible study sessions and participate in cleaning and arranging the church every Saturday morning, alongside some church youths. This involves manual work like mopping the church, activities that have become an interesting and integral part of my life.

By God’s grace, I share His word with the pupils during PPIs every Friday and occasionally with the staff during their devotions. Interacting with learners in the school and youths in the church has been an amazing experience. I’ve had the privilege to extend the love of God to some non-teaching staff by sharing the good news about Christ with them.

This journey has taught me patience with primary school learners, a group I had not socialized with before. As I continue to grow spiritually and professionally in my teaching career, the online Ministry Training Courses have been instrumental. A notable lesson from the Bible exposition in the book of Romans is that the gospel is of God, and everyone needs it. I’ve also learned about the purpose of the indwelling spirit—to overcome indwelling sin.

Looking forward, I trust God to secure a good teaching job after this apprentice year, where I can continue serving God through teaching. I am also hopeful for the prospect of finding a good wife shortly.
