For a long time, I was lost, but by His grace, He saved me. I once had a wrong view of salvation, believing that my works were enough to save me. I focused on serving, keeping certain regulations, and striving to win God’s approval, thinking that these would bring me salvation and the pardon of my sins. But glory to Him, for He opened my eyes to the truth—I am saved by grace alone.
It has been six months since I joined iServe Africa, and I have been serving at Mbukiwa Academy in Maralal, Samburu County. My roles include:
- Accounting – handling financial records.
- General administration – supporting the school’s daily operations.
- Front office duties – managing communication and coordination.
- Facilitating PPI (Pastoral Program Instruction) and weekend fellowships – engaging students in spiritual growth.
Over these months, I have gained valuable skills that align with my studies. Assertive thinking, teamwork, patience, and humility have been my greatest lessons as I continue to be refined each day.
I am deeply grateful for the iServe Africa program, from induction to Ministry Training Courses (MTCs). These have been instrumental in my spiritual growth, helping me understand what is the gospel, the uniformity of the bible, God sovereignty and supremacy, the right model of ministry among another topic. Each MTC session has been filled with invaluable truths, knowledge, and wisdom. I have enjoyed sharing of apprentice stories, wonderful hymns which are rich in gospel ending to be my prayer and desire. The vastness of iServe Africa library is great full of nourishing, enlightening and knowledgeable books and from this book I have been able to understand the bible better, Christianity as well.
My interaction with the pupils at Mbukiwa Academy has shaped my growth and ignited a passion for serving among students. I have also come to appreciate that children are sinners too, and they need the Gospel just as much as adults do.
When I first joined the apprenticeship program, my goal was to spread the Gospel I knew little about. However, I have realized that this journey is not just about doing ministry but about becoming a disciple of Jesus.
It has been an amazing experience, and I trust that in the coming months, I will continue to be enlightened, equipped, and shaped by the Scriptures. All glory to God!
