I am a believer saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. I have been transferred into the Kingdom of light, and though my perfection is in progress, my hope is alive in Christ. Despite the struggles and sufferings that come with my sinful nature, I rest in the truth that my sanctification is ongoing in Christ Jesus.
I have been serving at Ulauli Mission Centre, where my roles include:
- Pastoral work—shepherding and discipling believers.
- Moran and adult classes—teaching biblical truths to the community.
- School evangelism—reaching young people with the Gospel.
- Children’s ministry—nurturing the next generation in faith.
Being placed in a community with a different language and cultural setup has been both challenging and fulfilling. I have enjoyed learning their language and embracing our differences with tolerance and love. Even though the region experiences harsh temperatures and a scorching sun, I am encouraged by the warm welcome of the children and adults. God’s grace has sustained me, keeping me healthy and strong in this mission field.
My ministry training has been insightful and saturated in God’s Word. It has ignited my desire to seek God more deeply and overcome sinful thoughts. Some key lessons include biblical sexuality; understanding God’s design for identity and purity, God’s big story, how the bible points us to Christ, and exposition through Romans chapter 4 up to chapter 8, that has deepened my understanding of justification, sanctification, and life in the Spirit.
Additionally, I have been shaped by Christian literature, such as Conversion by Michael Lawrence, where I learnt that true conversion is not about becoming a nice person but being adopted into a new nature through repentance and faith in Christ. Another book is What is the Mission of the Church? by Kevin DeYoung and Greg Gilbert. I learnt that the church’s mission is not nation-building but making true disciples of Jesus and calling them to repentance and faith in His death and resurrection.
After serving at Ulauli for six months, I have realized that before this, much of what I did was seeking favor from God. Now, I understand that I am set apart for God’s divine purpose—to be trained and equipped for the greater mission of witnessing Christ to the world. Initially, I thought I was coming to help or save the people of Ulauli, but through training, I have realized that we all need a Redeemer. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to the Scriptures alone, for the glory of God alone. No one helps God in His work—He accomplishes it in His power.
Many times, people seek money, prosperity, and material blessings in the Bible, leading to misinterpretations that misguide the church. Through the apprenticeship program, I have learned to read the Bible rightly—to see Jesus at the center of Scripture. The training is preparing us to be faithful Bible teachers and servant leaders who rightly handle God’s Word and proclaim His truth to the world.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of iServe Africa and to be shaped for God’s mission. My prayer is to continue growing in Christ, leading others to Him, and remaining
faithful to His call.
