I am Ann Wairimu, an apprentice currently serving at Dove Sala Mission Center in Tana River County. My placement involves working among the Ilwana, Somali, Watta, and Wardei communities, where I serve in various capacities, including:
- Medical ministry – Assisting in a medical facility, participating in medical outreaches and home visits.
- Teaching – Supporting Sala Primary School by helping with lessons and mentoring students.
- Church and community service – Taking part in home fellowships and engaging in community outreach.
- Agricultural work – Helping to tend the chickens as part of the center’s sustainability efforts.
My time in Sala has been one of my biggest highlights. Before coming here, I never imagined that such a place existed—where so many people have never heard the gospel.
This experience has o pened my eyes to the diverse nations God desires to reach and has strengthened my conviction for missions.
Through the gospel-oriented training and personal study, I have:
- Gained a deeper awareness of my sinfulness and my constant need for Christ.
- Learned that evangelism is more than words—it is about living out the gospel in love, humility, and service.
- Grown in my ability to love unconditionally, even those who may oppose or misunderstand the gospel message.
The apprenticeship program has been transformative, helping me learn, unlearn, and rebuild my convictions based on Scripture. It has given me a kingdom perspective, teaching me to view the world through the lens of God’s mission.
