I am Regina Gathu, a sinner saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone.
Currently, I am a second-year apprentice at iServe Africa. My first-year placement was in Madogo, Tana River County, where I developed a deeper appreciation for ministry. After completing the year, I felt the need for an additional year to truly discern my heart’s calling and gain more experience in Gospel-centered ministry. I saw this as a valuable opportunity to learn from those who have been in ministry longer and understand how they made such significant life decisions.
In my second year, God, in His sovereign plan, connected me to Molo Street Children Project (MSCP) through iServe Africa. My responsibilities at MSCP include:
- Leading children’s devotions every evening.
- Helping children with their homework.
- Accompanying the social worker on home visits during the day.
- Managing the store at the home.
I have especially enjoyed leading devotions, building on the strong Gospel foundation laid by former apprentices and dedicated staff members. The working environment at MSCP has been deeply fulfilling, as everything we do is centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Additionally, I have had the privilege of receiving training in children’s ministry, which has greatly equipped me for this work.
This training block at iServe Africa has been focused on the question: What is the Gospel? It has been a rich opportunity to reflect deeply on the core message of salvation through reading Gospel-centered books. This has also directly impacted my ministry, as our April holiday VBS is centered on helping children understand the Gospel—a perfect opportunity to apply what I have been learning.
I am grateful for the ways God continues to shape and refine me through this journey, and I look forward to seeing how He will use me for His glory.
