I am Faith Kyeni Muthui, a sinner saved by God’s grace. I am a graduate of the University of Embu, where I earned a BSc in Mathematics with Computing, specializing in Applied Mathematics.
Currently, I am in my sixth month of the iServe Africa apprenticeship program, serving at GracePoint Church on Thika Road. My primary roles include:
- Teaching and organizing activities in the Children’s Ministry
- Office communications and general administrative work
Serving in Children’s Ministry has been an immensely joyful experience, deepening my love for youth and children’s work. I have also greatly benefited from:
- Devotional and Bible reading sessions
- Team meetings and discussions
Each of these has enriched my understanding of the Gospel, providing invaluable truths, wisdom, and knowledge that I truly cherish.
Being part of a church plant has allowed me to grow significantly, providing opportunities to:
- Serve within the church community
- Connect directly with the lead pastor
- Develop virtues like patience, humility, and love
A particularly transformative experience has been developing a consistent reading habit. Our team’s practice of reading at least 20 pages daily has been eye-opening. Recently, I read What is the Gospel?, which reinforced my understanding that the Cross is central to the Gospel—not just good news, but Christ and His crucifixion.
Initially, I preferred engaging with older children, thinking the little ones would be too difficult. However, I have come to appreciate their need for the Gospel, and my passion for youth and children’s ministry has grown—even for the youngest ones.
As I reflect on these six months of learning and becoming, I find myself considering a second year, eager to deepen my understanding of children and youth ministry and integrate it with my career.
Glory to God for allowing me to be part of such a transformative program.
