My name is Winnie Mwongera. I am a sinner who deserved death but was saved by the grace of God through His Son, Christ Jesus. I am an alumna of Ukunda Missions School (U.M.S.), where I pursued a diploma in practical missions. I am passionate about ministry and serving God’s people. It has been a great joy and pleasure serving both under Pais Kenya and now with iServe Africa.
I was born and raised in Meru County in a village called Kimbo, and I am placed at Yenger Education Center in Obambo, Siaya County. I teach Arts and Craft, Music, and C.R.E. to grades 4, 5, and 6. Additionally, I conduct Bible lessons with children, mentor them, and engage them in sports, dance, songs, and drama, providing a rich opportunity to teach them the word of God beyond the regular Sunday program. I also fellowship at Go to All Nations Church, where I serve as a children’s minister.
Through serving at iServe Africa, I have learned to appreciate cultural differences. It is one thing to say I can blend easily with people wherever I am sent. Still, it is another thing to be there in person, learning, appreciating, and embracing that culture, even if I disagree with some of their belief systems. I have realized the importance of being a faithful Bible teacher because whatever we teach these young ones is what they grasp. Some of them may not be able to read the Bible for themselves, so I am responsible for being faithful in what I teach.
The Ministry Training Courses in Bible Expositions have taught me that we are all guilty sinners who need to look to Christ for cleansing and sanctification. When God sent Moses to deliver the Israelites, the first thing He revealed about Himself was His moral perfection (His holiness). This was to make all people conscious of His holiness and encourage them to pursue holiness. Therefore, I desire to continue seeking God and pursuing holiness as I continue serving Him through my year of apprenticeship and throughout my life and ministry. I come to Him in my sinful nature, unashamed of my nakedness, so that He may clothe me in His righteousness.
