Hello! My name is Emmanuel Agape. I am a sinner saved by God’s grace. My salvation journey has been incredible, and I am immensely grateful to God. Despite my imperfections and failures, I have found profound hope and joy in the grace of Jesus Christ.
After completing my university studies, I wasn’t entirely sure about joining Christian ministry, even though I considered it. I spent a year working in the corporate world before feeling the Lord leading me to serve in cross-cultural missions. An opportunity presented itself through iServe Africa, and I am now serving at Mercy Ministries in Bungoma.
Mercy Ministries is a Christian organization that runs a school, a Baptist church, and a children’s home, managed by a dedicated missionary family. This family is deeply involved in various charitable and social outreach programs to address the local community’s needs while preaching the gospel. They provide free education, clean water, healthcare for the sick, and shelter for disadvantaged children, all while sharing the love of Christ.
My main role at Mercy Ministries is teaching. I teach geography to students in Forms 1 to 4 and business studies to grades 7 and 8. My other responsibilities include caring for the children’s home and facilitating Sunday school at the church. Additionally, I attend a Bible training program for pastors that takes place fortnightly.
My experience serving here has been transformative. While teaching the children, I learned the importance of Christian classical education, which emphasizes academic and spiritual growth. There is more to our children’s success than academics; it involves training them in various aspects of life. I have enjoyed working with the children, helping them resolve conflicts, and teaching them how Christians should live with one another.
One outstanding aspect of my ministry engagement with iServe Africa is the Ministry Training Courses. These courses include three physical training sessions at the Training Centre every quarter and ongoing online training sessions throughout the year. One of my highlights has been understanding the true gospel clearly. This training has deepened my understanding of the Bible, increased my confidence in the scriptures, and developed a greater love for Jesus and the church.
In the past six months as an apprentice, I have grown personally, spiritually, and professionally. I pray to continue growing until Christ is fully formed in me.
