I am Isaac Mulwa, saved by grace and holding firmly to the promise of eternal life found in Christ alone. Raised in a Christian family in Makueni County, the eastern part of Kenya, I came to a realization of my need for Christ in Form Three, and since then, Christ has been my anchor.
In my final year of university, I felt the conviction to join Christian ministry, despite uncertainties about post-university expectations. I was zealous to give God one year, but little did I know that God was giving me a year to learn and grow. In September 2023, I joined iServe Africa and am currently serving in House of Hope Katito, Kisumu County. This is a Christian organization offering essential services to the community through its school, medical department, chapel, computer lab, and children’s center.
Within the church ministry, I contribute to the music team, conduct one-to-one mentorship, and occasionally preach during home fellowships and Sunday services. In the school, I assist learners in computer science and conduct devotions, while also attending to computing tasks in the computer lab.
Serving in various areas has taught me flexibility and the importance of relating to different groups and respecting their boundaries and levels. I thank God for the opportunities to grow in my musical skills, both spiritually and socially.
Since joining iServe Africa, the urgency of the gospel has become clear. Recognizing that sin is humanity’s significant problem, the gospel emerges as the ultimate solution. Both believers and non-believers need to hear and believe in the gospel continually. Through Ministry Training Courses (MTCs), I’ve learned the importance of accurately understanding and faithfully passing on the Word of God for our walk in this world. Regarding Godly character, I’ve grasped that our union with Christ is the first step, and it’s a continuous walk empowered by the Holy Spirit who indwells us at conversion.
I am grateful for the opportunity God has given me to become as I serve. Each interaction with God’s people is a learning experience on how to relate effectively, continually pointing people to Christ. Understanding why Jesus called His disciples to be with Him first before going to the world has become clearer.
