Meet Dancan Odera.
Dancan is from Kakamega County and studied Mathematics and Economics with IT at Maseno University. Today, he is serving at AIC Mbangwani CDC as an iServe Africa apprentice.
At his placement, Dancan is involved in spiritual life at the Child and Youth Development Centre—walking with children and parents through prayer, discipleship, mentorship, and even home visits. He also supports administrative work, serves in the church, and helps in Sunday school and youth ministry.
But for Dancan, this season has been more than just responsibility.
“The biggest thing I’ve learned is the importance of the local church in doing missions. Mission is about making disciples—and it is through this that true godliness grows.”
Through his placement, he has built deep relationships within the community.
“It has taught me how to listen, to walk with people in difficult moments, and to share the comfort we have in the Gospel.”
He’s also learning faithfulness in the unseen—especially in praying for others.
“I’m learning to trust God in every situation. Truly, God is wonderful.”
Like many apprentices, support raising hasn’t been easy—but he remains grateful.
“It humbles me to see those who have chosen to support me consistently.”
For Dancan, this journey is shaping every part of his life:
“At work, at church, and in my personal life—I want to give my best for the glory of God.”
