I am Wanjiru Mwanzia, saved by God’s grace and called to serve His people. I studied at South Eastern Kenya University, where I trained as a teacher of Physics and Mathematics. In September 2023, I joined iServe Africa to serve in ministry, and it has been a joyful and fulfilling experience working with children, teaching them the Gospel, and listening to their hearts.
I am currently placed at Gerar Talent School in Keumbu, Kisii, where I serve in different capacities:
- Leading devotions for both teachers and pupils.
- Sharing God’s Word during school assemblies.
- Teaching various subjects from Grade 4 to Grade 7.
- Serving as a class teacher for Grade 4 and Grade 7.
- Engaging in Bible study with the students, currently going through the book of Exodus.
Every day in ministry is a reminder to pursue peace, live well with others, and remain faithful to the truth through the help of the Holy Spirit. From last ministry training course my highlights are mainly from the morning exposition that sin has no authority and we have a choice to make and we can only fight sin by the grace of God.
Through my placement, I am learning that I must be consumed by God’s love in order to love others well. Ministry is not about our own strength or capability, but about trusting in God’s grace, strength, and energy to serve despite our shortcomings.
A verse that continually encourages me in my service is Zechariah 4:6: “So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” This reminds me that true ministry is not about human strength, but about relying fully on God’s Spirit to work in and through us. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I pray that God will continue to shape me, strengthen me, and use me for His glory.
