iServe Africa

Apprentice Story: Patricia Mongoi

I joined iServe Africa in September 2024, and this marks my sixth month serving with A Rocha Kenya and the Dongokundu Village community. The journey has been life-transforming, and I am deeply grateful to God for His unwavering grace and love—not just for me, but for His people as well.

My role involves:

Engaging with the people of Dongokundu over the past ten months has been an incredible blessing. The opportunity to point them to Christ—especially the children, whose curiosity about God is inspiring—has been deeply fulfilling. My greatest desire is to see these children come to Christ and mature as His disciples.

Some of the key highlights of my time here has been:

The Ministry Training Course has helped me gain a deeper understanding of God’s plan of salvation through biblical expositions and Bible studies. These gospel truths are taking root in my heart, continually shaping my faith and ministry.

The books I’ve been reading have also been instrumental in my growth. One that stands out is Serving Without Sinking, which has convicted me that my service to God is about Him, not me. I am reminded that God does not need my help, but He graciously invites me to be part of His work because He loves us. My service, therefore, should flow from God’s love rather than a sense of duty. These truths are transforming my heart and shaping my worldview to reflect Christ.

As I serve, I am learning that spreading the gospel is not just about teaching God’s Word but also about how I live and interact with others daily. My personal devotions are growing deeper, and I am developing valuable soft skills. Additionally, I am grateful for the exposure I am getting in my profession.

It is a joy to be part of the iServe family, a program that deeply roots one in Christ while also fostering meaningful, practical interactions with others. I look forward to growing even more in faith, service, and community.
