My name is Gideon Kishoyan Kiamar, and I come from Narok County. I completed my education at Nkaroni Primary School and Mengit Secondary School before joining the University of Kabianga, where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Education. I embraced Christianity in Class 5 in 2010, and serving the Lord has been a wonderful experience in my life. I first learned about iServe Africa through the Christian Union while in campus, and I desired to join the iServe Africa Graduate Apprenticeship Program. On September 4th, 2023, I began my journey and was placed as an apprentice in Arocha, Kenya (Dakacha Reserve).
In my placement, my responsibilities include carrying out a beekeeping project in Dakacha, engaging the community in a kitchen garden project, teaching farmers about Farming God’s Way programs, and instructing students on environmental education in different primary schools around Dakacha. Additionally, I fellowship at Marafa ACK Church, where I assist in church cleaning on Saturdays and participate in children’s ministry on Sundays. I have also been involved in conducting door-to-door evangelism in Marafa.
Serving the Lord in Dakacha has been a rewarding experience, providing me with the opportunity to interact with people of different cultures in a new environment. I’ve learned to appreciate new cultures and embrace diversity. The online classes and the exposition of the book of John have been particularly beneficial, and I recently completed reading “God’s Big Picture.” I am grateful to God and iServe Africa for offering valuable programs that contribute to our growth while serving in our placements.
In the Ministry Training Course, we explored the exposition of the book of Romans, delving deeper into the understanding of salvation. Additionally, we studied the book of Malachi through Bible study and conducted a book study on Colossians. The micro-preaching sessions equipped me with the skills to deliver an expository sermon.
Challenges in the mission field include language barriers and occasional rejection by some individuals during door-to-door evangelism. I ask for your prayers that I may faithfully serve God’s people.
