I am Paul Egelan, 24 years old. I am from Baragoi sub-county in Samburu County in the Northern part of Kenya. I am saved by the grace of God through the great love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. I grew up in a Christian family of 10 and constantly attended church.

Just to give you a short description of our home area: it has been known for decades for the tribal clashes between 4 communities, that is, Samburu, Turkana, Rendille and Pokot. Massive killings, shedding of blood and property destruction has been the effects of the battles.

After high school I was privileged to join Baraton University where I took a course in Foods and Nutrition. During my time here I developed a desire to serve the Lord Jesus. After my graduation on 10th August, 2014 the zeal to serve sent me back to my village. I started being involved in church activities, Prayer Mountains and visiting people including the poor and the helpless. Though I could not offer much, I helped in the minor ways possible which sometimes would only mean prayers.

Thus I spent the year 2015 volunteering in God’s work on my own. During this time I searched for mentors and people who could answer my many questions but to no avail. It was until I attended a seminar in TUUM that I met an iServe Africa apprentice, David Okiki, with whom I shared my story. He then connected me to iServe that supports young leaders raising and training them in their ministries.

I am now an iSA apprentice for one year as from September, 2016, looking forward to serve and grow.
