My name is Alex Akeyo, currently an apprentice of iServe Africa serving in AIC church Marsabit. I joined the program in September 2022 and indeed I am grateful to have made this decision.

In AIC Marsabit I serve in the church as well as the school. The school has reached grade 3. In the church, my main role is to assist in the music department, the praise and worship, and the choir. I also help in the media department. I help facilitate bible study and any other role assigned by the pastor. In the school, I assist in administrative roles, communications, overseeing day-to-day activities among others, and in the accounts and store. I delight in all these, and I am always learning.

So far, thanks to the MTC (both online and physical) and the various books reading I have come to appreciate the gospel. And I am convinced that indeed the gospel is all about God’s word, the message of the Bible is God’s son, Jesus Christ and it’s for everyone, both the believers and the unbelievers. That we indeed are too wicked to save ourselves and too wrecked to be saved by others and thus we need the gospel which we have received through faith in our Lord Christ Jesus. This truth has, is, and will continue to challenge me to cling more to Christ who is able to complete the work of salvation which He began in us.

This truth has really changed how I view people and life. Indeed, we are all sinners, and given a chance we can do far much worse, and we are always in need of God’s Grace. This has changed how I even view my workmates and how I react when one does wrong. Has also changed my perception of evangelism, that the gospel is not just for unbelievers but even the believers need it, even myself need it the more to continue in this walk of salvation.

It is my prayer that I will continue to learn throughout this apprenticeship and not just to be bombarded with knowledge, but that I may continue to be transformed into Christlikeness, and as well help others hear and know about this Jesus. I pray that He may increase as I decrease, all for His glory, forever and ever Amen.
