"I believe iServe will give the volunteers a unique, life-changing and fulfilling experience as they work in various placements in Kenya I fully endorse and recommend the programme" Paul Kamaku,  former Careforce Volunteer.

 Who can do iServe Africa?

iServe Africa recruits christian graduates into the apprenticeship programme from colleges and universities and places them in a local church context, a misson agency or a christian organisation. The apprentices are single men and women aged between 21  and 28 and might be one of the following:

University/College Graduate: Those completing college/university  and wish to give up a year of their working life to serve the Lord, explore christian ministry , take a break from formal education or wish to investigate career options, gain field experience in their chosen discipline or fulfill a long held dream/desire to volunteer for a year.

International Apprentices: Those coming from around the world commended by church leaders in their home countries. For those coming from outside Africa please obtain more information here

Local Apprentices: An individual from any of these backgrounds who has been recruited by church or project and wishes to be linked into the iServe Africa Apprenticeship Programme

 My Story: Jacob Kennedy owuor

My name is Jacob Kennedy Owour I come from Rachuonyo District, Kasipul Kabondo in the Western part of Kenya. I joined iServe Africa  for the first year in September 2008. My placement is The Sheepfold Ministries (TSM) which  reaches the unreached people groups. When in Nairobi, I work in TSM’s office helping in report writing and in the Awareness Department. Apart from being in Nairobi I also go to the Mission fields in different parts of the country especially the north and coastral areas. Being in Garissa for the first time was exciting. I learnt a lot concerning the mission field and the challenges that missionaries go through.

This apprenticeship has been a period of learning especially when it comes to the work in the office. I have been changed in my way of thinking about the word of God. I am not the same person again. My understanding on the gospel ministry is improved.

I look forward learning more from TSM about mission. I thank God for iServe Africa for the worthy opportunity it has given to me. I encourage the young graduates to consider joining this program before they embark job seeking. The sacrifice has been made for us by Christ himself. We only need to yield ourselves to him so that he can use us. Pray with me that I will be able to know exactly what the Lord wants me to do after the program.
