The need to equip young Gospel workers has never been greater! iServe Africa is thorough - combining ministry theory and practice, providing the best platform for young people to discover and use their gifts. I highly recommend iServe Africa.”

Do you have apprentices under your wings as Paul had Timothy?

Thank you  for seeking to know  how iServe Africa could place an apprentice in your ministry/business. This page sets out the key matters you need to think through and it should help you as you consider this crucial partnership. Please read through the Leaders information pack available to download here

We have 3 basic types of apprenticeships and it is helpful to explore this carefully before you you request for an apprentice from us. This is based on the type of exposure that the apprentice will get through their year with you.

1. Local Church - This is a placement with a local church where the apprentice will be exposed to a wide variety of local church ministry. This might include specific responsibilities such as youth work, childrens work, preaching & teaching, local church administration etc.
2. Mission Agency/Christian organisation - This is a placement with a non profit making mission agency or christian organisation where the apprentice will be exposed to different skills such as leadership, management, missions & evangelism etc
3. Marketplace ('Christian Business') -  This is a new venture that we are piloting in 2010/2011 year.  We will place apprentices with christian businessmen for a year. The concept is to have christian business leaders to mentor younger christians on the ethos of running a successful business enterprise on christian ethos. The full launch of iServe Markeplace will not be until September 2012. We expect the apprentices to be exposed to a full range of experiences in the businessworld like front office operations, accounting, communications, report etc.

We have attempted to answer most of your questions in the information pack and also in the frequestly asked questions section of this website. However, the process is fairly simple in the following 3 steps:

1.Understand iServe Africa Apprenticeship Programme from the information pack/website.
2.Express your interest to have an apprentice by filling out the apprentice request form.
3.Invite us to make a placement appraisal

For an apprentice to start their placement in your church/organization/ in September, we will need to hear from you by May 31st. We will plan to make our decisions and communicate shortly after. For a January start, we need to hear from you by the end of September.

If we are able to include you on our list of placements and find a possible person to be your apprentice, we will send you a comprehensive guide for placement supervisors. This guide sets down the common standards to be applied in all placements with an iServe Africa apprentice.

We remain committed to partner with those churches and organisations that fully share in the principal of apprenticeship as a model of training workers for the 21st century African christian community.

If you have further questions not answered in this website, please contact us by phone or e mail
info@iserveafrica.org. We will be happy to make a presentation before your leadership team, staff or board.

“Experience has shown the great value of apprenticeship schemes as a method of training for Christian ministry. iServe Africa  has come at a time of great need for training in the African church. We warmly commend this initiative.”
